Workshop 3 - Kayseri, Turkey

We have just returned from the third set of workshops in Keyseri, Turkey.

We arrived on Tuesday April 14th at the airport of Keyseri. Some groups arrived very late at night but even so we were picked up by our most welcoming host families, who brought us home for a good night's sleep.

Wednesday started with a gathering in

the school's assembly room for a

welcoming performance by the Turkish

group and an introduction of the groups.

After that our first workshop in creating animation stands started.

In the second workshop in the afternoon we built the scenes according to our drawings. These two workshops were held by Assistant Professor Levent Çoruh.

On Thursday we had one workshop in the morning in lighting the scene and in the afternoon we used our knowledge in creating our own scenes about our part of the stories.

In the afternoon we painted ceramics and after that we visited a zoo, the Mazakaland.

On Friday we had our fifth workshop. This time we used our new knowledge by taking trial videos with the the scene and stands that that our turkish friends hade prepared.

In the afternoon we took the tram into Keyseri City Centre where we visited the castle, the Kurşunlu Mosque and the Medicine Museum. The students were also given the possibility to do some marbelling at the Old Madrasah.

In the evening we had a culture evening at Beyazşehir Sports Hall. We were greeted by the host parents who had done a fantastic job ın making delicious food in abundance.

The different countries presented their various programs of songs, games and dances. Everybody joined in both students and family members.

Saturday started early with a daytrip and sightseeing to Cappadocia, with its sculptural formations of nature. In Cappadocia we visited among other places Göreme Açık Hava Müzesı, Üçhısar and Paşa Bağları. We had the possibility to go down into an underground city, visit a ceramic factory, visit some of the first Christian churches dug out in caves and enjoy the scenery in Cappadocia.

The trip ended up in the town of Ürgüp where we could buy Turkish Delight.

Sunday started even earlier, at four am, when we said goodbye to our hosts at the airport before starting our trip back to our home countries. It was time to thank them for their hospitality, for making us feel like celebrities and for giving us such a wonderful stay in Keyseri. We would also like thank Ömer, Dilek and Nilay for the planning of our stay in Keyseri. A huge job, well done.
