Workshop 5 - Warszawa, Poland
We have just returned from the fifth set of workshops in Warsaw, Poland.
We arrived on Tuesday January 12th at the airport of Warsaw. Some groups arrived very late at night but even so we were picked up by our most welcoming host families, who brought us home for a good night's sleep.
Wednesday started with a gathering in the school's gym hall for welcoming and a warm up with games and a concert. After that everybody toured in the school building.
Our first workshop this day was an Apple workshop about using Garageband and making sound.
The second workshop was a creative one, how to cut coloured paper into different patterns all according to Polish tradition.
Thursday morning started with playing games and working in groups.
After that we all went by bus to the Polish Radio Station 3, where we guided around the station learning about broadcasting radio programmes. We even had the opportunity to make our own broadcasts.
In the afternoon we had another workshop working with sound held by Ms Rozbiecka. In this workshop we worked with and made background sound.
On Friday we had our fifth workshop. This time we used our new knowledge by making trial sound for our film scenes from each country.
In the afternoon we took the tram into Warsaw City Centre, where we visited the Palace of Culture and Science. We went up to the 30th floor from where we had a magnificent view of Warsaw.
On Friday we had a culture evening at the school’s gym hall. We were greeted by the host parents who had done a fantastic job ın making delicious food in abundance.
The different countries presented their various programs of songs, games and dances. Everybody joined in both students and family members.
Saturday started early with a daytrip and sightseeing around Warsaw. We were guided around the Old Town and visited the Chopin Museum. We had a packed lunch and then spent a couple of hours at the Copernicus Science Center, where science comes into practice.
Our day finished off with a visit to Lazienki Royal Park and the light show there. A magnificent spectacle.
Sunday started very early for some of us, at five am, when we said goodbye to our hosts at the airport before starting our trip back to our home countries. It was time to thank our hosts for their hospitality, for making us feel at home and for giving us such a wonderful stay in Warsaw. We would also like thank Magda and Ula for the planning of our stay in Warsaw and for making us feel so welcome.
